Overview

Why travellers love Ladakh

Moon-like landscapes, cobalt lakes, ancient monasteries and some of the highest motorable roads on earth — an adventure like nowhere else. Plan around May – September for the best weather, and allow 6 – 9 days to see it properly.

Ladakh - "the land of high passes" - is a high-altitude cold desert in the Indian Trans-Himalaya, framed by the Karakoram and Zanskar ranges. Moonlike landscapes, turquoise lakes, Buddhist monasteries and some of the world's highest motorable roads make it a bucket-list journey.

Highlights

  • Leh - Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, Thiksey and Hemis monasteries.
  • Nubra Valley - sand dunes, double-humped Bactrian camels and the world's highest motorable pass, Khardung La.
  • Pangong Tso - a 134 km lake that shifts from blue to green to grey through the day.
  • Sangam & Magnetic Hill - the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers.

Acclimatisation: Leh is at 11,500 ft; every itinerary begins with a rest day. Permits: Inner Line Permits for Nubra and Pangong are arranged by us.

Getting there: Fly into Leh (IXL) from Delhi. The Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh highways are open roughly June to September.
